FAQ - Frequently
Asked Questions
Please
find answers to the most common questions visitors to our website
have asked. If you have any other questions or concerns, or if you
would like to reserve a “Celtic Jack”, please contact
us.
What
are “Celtic Jacks”?
No, this is not a new breed, just a short catchy name for our compact
little Jack Russell Terrier puppies imported from Ireland.
They
display perfect Irish Jack Russell Terrier characteristics. Being
around them is a joy! You will find that this popular dog, which
now appears in many advertising campaigns and is highly regarded
by Royals as well as by horse-lovers, will lift your spirits. Our
short "Celtic Jacks" are particularly adaptable to the
city-bound apartment dweller or a home with a fenced garden and
will de-stress you with charm and fun-loving character.
How
much does an Irish Jack Russell cost?
Each
of our "top-quality" Irish Jack Russells are $650 regardless
of sex. At
this price we have evaluated the pup for confirmation, temperment
and
breeding potential. We occassionally have pups for a reduced price
which we
consider "pet quality". We accept check, money order or
credit card. We also
can discuss payment arrangements upon request.
How
much is shipping?
Shipping
via Wilmington is provided at cost by US Airways or Delta. Shipping
costs are $195 within the domestic United States. As our gift to
you, Celtic
Jacks provides a free shipping crate which you can later use for
training
your pup. Pups are provided food and water during travel and cannot
make
more than one connection.[more]
What
specific care do I have to provide for this breed?
Daily
exercise or outdoor activity is required, however, an Irish Jack
Russell Terrier will do well in an apartment or a house with a fenced
backyard. Only minimal brushing of the coat is necessary; bathing
only when needed. Early firm training is advised. This intelligent
dog has a very fast learning rate. As with any new addition to your
family, your “Celtic Jack” will thrive with your attention and loving
care!
Does
the puppy or dog you order have to be quarantined?
The
United States import laws do not require a period of quarantine
for dogs imported from Ireland, because Ireland is rabies free.
Are
Jack Russell Terriers considered working dogs?
Jack
Russell Terriers are a mainstay on nearly every Irish farm, bred
not only for their loving dispositions, but also for their usefulness
as hunting companions and valiant protectors of livestock. Anyone
involved with horses in Ireland usually has several Jack Russell
Terriers because they are perfect companions. They are adorable,
fun-loving family pets, but also very clever and courageous. The
United States government even employs short Jack Russell Terriers
on foreign airports to seek out deadly snakes hiding in landing
gear and cargo. These brave dogs are fearless even in the face of
a seven to ten foot snake, and they are working hard to prevent
the introduction of poisonous tree snakes into vulnerable ecosystems
such as Hawaii.
